Marijuana Activist Training Session
December 13, 2014 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Libertarian Party of Maryland is a member of the Marijuana Policy Coalition of Maryland. That coalition is organizing the effort to pass a legalization bill as well as new decriminalization bill (to improve the old one, by raising the amount covered under the possession decriminalization and adding paraphernalia coverage) in 2015. We need activists to join us in a Lobby Day (a coordinated effort for you to speak with your local representatives in support of these bills), public testimony before committees in the General Assembly when the bills are considered, and a letter/email writing campaign.
An important step in this process is to train our volunteer activists on how best to advocate for these positions. NORML and the coalition are sponsoring a training session which will be held in the Catonsville Library on Saturday, December 13th, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like to help the Libertarian Party of Maryland and its coalition partners bring about real change in the laws of Maryland, please consider attending this training session.
In addition, some of our members will be involved in public advocacy for a new ballot access bill (like we supported in 2014) and perhaps other bills in the next session. Even if marijuana is not your preferred issue, if you’d like to help with these other legislation advocacy efforts, attending the training to learn best practices is strongly encouraged.
Note: this is the same day as the LP of MD holiday party, so you could attend the training session during the afternoon, then party with us in the evening.
