Scott Spaulding, the Chair of the Baltimore City Libertarians, has taken the lead in a nonpartisan advocacy effort before Maryland’s General Assembly. He is working in support House Bill 273, the Defend the Guard Act, which requires a Congressional declaration of war before the Governor could release the Maryland National Guard to serve in active combat duty. You can review the bill here: HB273.
Scott wrote a wonderful opinion article at Maryland Matters that you can read HERE. It is worth the read.
The Libertarian Party of Maryland supports passage of HB 273 and will submit written and oral testimony before the House Committee considering the bill.
If you’d like to get involved in helping Scott get this bill passed or just want to ask questions or help with strategy, Scott is holding a zoom chat tonight (February 3, 2022) at 8 p.m. You can visit his FB event for more details HERE.
We thank all of our tireless activists who work to bring libertarian solutions to benefit the people of Maryland. Way to go Scott!
